The ESS provides financial incentives to households and businesses for installing energy-efficient air conditioners, giving your customers savings on the installation and running costs.

The ESS Process Explained

Below, we have outlined the process and potential savings for customers that you as a Rinnai Dealer can use during sales consultations.

The aim of the ESS is to reduce electricity and gas costs and consumption in New South Wales. Customers who successfully install energy-saving air conditioners can claim financial incentives, known as Energy Savings Certificates (ESCs). These ESCs can be converted into payments, such as upfront discounts on installations.

Step-by-Step ESS Process

Step 1. Product Sales (Dealer/Wholesaler)

Dealers can highlight the benefits of energy-efficient Rinnai products and the ESS financial incentives during the sales process.

Step 2. Book Installation (Customer)

The customer books a qualified installer to set up the energy-efficient Rinnai product and is informed about the upfront discount they receive under the ESS by the installer.

Step 3. Documentation & Claim Submissions (Installer)

The installer collects proof of purchase, installation details, and other required documents, then submits them to an ACP for verification.

Step 4. Compliance Check (ACP)

The ACP reviews the documentation and ensures compliance with ESS standards. The ACP then submits the verified claim to the scheme regulators.

Step 5. Incentive Payment (ACP/Regulators)

  • Approval (Regulators): Scheme regulators review and approve the claim, providing the ACP with the Energy Saving Certificate (ESC).

  • Conversion to Cash (ACP): The ACP converts the approved ESC into cash.

  • Payment Transfer (ACP): The ACP transfers the incentive payment to the installer, covering the upfront discount given to the customer.
