Can flued heaters be installed on marine craft?
Only room sealed heaters are approved for installation into marine craft, therefore the Energysaver units can be installed. These must be installed on the main deck of the boat. If they are installed below deck, additional provisions must be made. There is an exception for a heater installation into a houseboat, whereby your local Gas Authority may permit a flueless space heater to be installed in a living area, which can be isolated from the sleeping area. The heater needs to be fitted with a flame safeguard, tilt safety switch and oxygen depletion device. All Rinnai flueless heaters have these important safety features. The maximum gas consumption of the heater is not to exceed 0.2 MJ/hr for each cubic metre of room volume. (AG 601- 2000 - Section 6.3.6.3)
The 556 FDT is available. A 1004 FDT model is currently being tested and will be available in 2001.
